SAPIO TREE — TERMS OF SERVICE
Last updated: 2026-07-25
1. ACCEPTANCE
By accessing or using Sapio Tree ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by the operator of Sapio Tree ("the Operator"). Contact: aditus.sapientium.t@gmail.com
2. WHAT THE SERVICE IS
Sapio Tree is a public, tree-structured AI conversation platform. Users bring their own API keys (BYOK) for third-party AI providers (e.g. Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude, OpenAI). Conversations can be forked and are displayed publicly as a shared tree.
3. AGE REQUIREMENT
You must be at least 15 years old to create an account. If the laws of your region require a higher minimum age for consenting to services like this one, that higher age applies to you.
4. YOUR API KEYS
- API keys you enter are stored only in your browser (localStorage), scoped per device and per account. When you generate a response or translation, your key passes through the Service's server solely to relay your request to the AI provider; it is used transiently for that request and is never stored, logged, or retained by the Operator.
- Your use of third-party AI providers through your keys is governed by those providers' terms and pricing. You are solely responsible for all usage and costs incurred under your keys.
- Do not enter API keys on shared or public devices. You can delete your keys at any time from the Account page.
5. PUBLIC CONTENT
- All questions, AI responses, forks, and reactions you post are PUBLIC and visible to anyone, including visitors without accounts.
- Do not post personal information (yours or others'), confidential information, or anything you do not want publicly visible.
- Deleting a card removes its content but leaves a tombstone in the tree structure. Complete removal of the structural record is not guaranteed.
6. YOUR CONTENT AND LICENSE
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant the Operator a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute that content as part of the Service (including the public tree, search, rankings, and translations).
7. AI-GENERATED CONTENT
AI responses are generated by third-party models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. They are not advice (medical, legal, financial, or otherwise). The Operator does not verify AI outputs.
8. PROHIBITED CONDUCT
You must not:
- violate any applicable law, or infringe others' rights (including copyright and privacy);
- post harassment, hate speech, or defamatory attacks on individuals or groups;
- post abusive content that does not constitute constructive, critical discussion (see Section 9);
- impersonate others, or misrepresent AI output as human statements of fact with intent to deceive;
- spam, manipulate rankings (e.g. artificial likes), or disrupt the Service;
- attempt unauthorized access, scraping at abusive scale, or interference with the Service's infrastructure;
- use others' API keys without authorization.
9. MODERATION AND REMOVAL
The Service aims to host constructive discussion driven by critical thinking. The Operator may, at its sole discretion and without prior notice, remove (tombstone) content that it judges to be abusive, harassing, or not constituting constructive discussion, and may restrict or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms. Because forked conversations form a shared public tree, removal preserves tree structure (tombstones) rather than erasing branches. When content is removed (tombstoned), its text is deleted from the database, and tombstoned content is excluded from the conversation context sent to AI providers in any subsequent forks or responses.
10. ENGLISH-FIRST COMMUNITY
The Service encourages posting in English to keep the shared tree accessible to the widest audience. Reading assistance (translation) is provided as a feature, using your own API key.
11. AVAILABILITY AND CHANGES
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. The Operator may modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (in whole or in part) at any time. The Operator may update these Terms; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be indicated by updating the date above.
12. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages, or for loss of data, profits, or API costs, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
13. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your place of residence provides otherwise.
